Superintendent Surrency and Kristin Carroll, administrator on special assignment in Human Resources led a national round table on the importance of teacher retention. Kristin shared the success of PCSD’s Novice Teacher Mentor program that has improved teacher retention for new teachers from 65% to 90% in 3 years.

•Helping students get out of their vehicle in the morning, greeting them by name and telling them to have a great day
•Doing the morning announcements and sharing words of wisdom, along with the phrase, "Make it a great day . . . or not, the choice is yours."
•Visiting with children in the lunchroom
•Reading to children
•A teacher that asks for the 50th time a different approach, strategy or support for a student because she will NEVER give up on that child
•Knowing that each day is different but what stays the same is always having the chance to make a difference in a child's life."

Rick and Kona Ice are helping our local schools raise money... One shaved ice at a time.
Since August 2016, the Kona Ice truck has raised almost $40,000 for Putnam County schools. The fundraising process begins when students bring money to school to pay for a Kona shaved ice. Then, a percent of sales go back to the school.
Our students and teachers absolutely love having the Kona Ice truck pull up to the school! It was certainly a hit today at the District office!
