Stephanie Wellon, PCSD Lead Mental Health Counselor, presented Veronica Shorter to the Putnam County School District Board at Tuesday's regular meeting.
Veronica, a student at Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School, shared her winning essay describing her wish for all students to seek help from others when they are feeling overwhelmed with life. Board members were clearly moved by her words and expressed that she was brave for sharing her thoughts through writing to positively influence others.
Dr. Surrency shared that he "hoped her words would encourage others to reach out to counselors for support. We have a great team of counselors in our schools and district ready to help students every day."
