We are thrilled that Michael Chaires, Assistant Principal at Palatka Jr. Sr. High School, has been honored as the Assistant Principal of the Year for the State of Florida! This prestigious recognition reflects his dedication to fostering an environment where students can thrive and educators can excel.
Recently, Mr. Chaires attended the Distinguished Educator Ceremony in Tallahassee, where he was recognized alongside other outstanding educators, including the Principal of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Education Support Person of the Year, and Superintendent of the Year. The event was part of the ElevateED program organized by Florida State University.
In his own words, Mr. Chaires shared, “It was an honor to be recognized alongside fellow educators who have been working hard in their respective roles to make significant contributions to their local communities. In our brief time together, we discussed the positive initiatives we are implementing in our schools to help our students learn and navigate their education.”
The ceremony was highlighted by remarks from Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz and an inspiring speech from the 2025 Teacher of the Year, Jamie Suarez, who emphasized the profound impact educators have on their students’ lives. Mr. Chaires was also recognized on the field during the two-minute timeout at FSU’s football game against California, a testament to his outstanding contributions.
Congratulations, Mr. Chaires! Your commitment to education is truly inspiring, and we are proud to have you as part of the PCSD family.
