On Tuesday, May 21, the Putnam Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAAS) celebrated an extraordinary moment during their Honors Day Program. The entire student body erupted into chants of "Bryan! Bryan!" as Bryan Jenkins was presented with a prestigious award from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). This joyous occasion marked a significant milestone in Bryan's educational journey, highlighting his remarkable achievements and perseverance.

PAAS AwardBryan Jenkins was among the elite group of only 20 students nationwide to receive the 18th Annual HMH 180 Award, recognizing outstanding students and educators who have triumphed over significant obstacles to achieve academic success. Bryan stood out as the sole representative from Florida.

"We are thrilled that Bryan Jenkins' reading improvement is being recognized by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). With the help of his teachers and because of his efforts, he has blossomed from a misbehaving, non-reader to a school leader who now reads on grade level and volunteers to help others improve as well," said Curtis D. Ellis, Principal of Putnam Academy of Arts and Sciences.

HMH's 180 Awards celebrate students who have overcome significant challenges and educators who have made a substantial impact using the company's Read 180 and Math 180 intervention programs. These programs blend teacher-led instruction with adaptive technology to deliver personalized learning experiences, fostering both academic and personal growth.

Bryan Jenkins' achievement serves as an inspiration to his peers and a testament to the transformative power of education. His story underscores the importance of resilience, hard work, and the support of a dedicated school community. Congratulations to Bryan on this well-deserved recognition, and may his journey continue to inspire others.
